4 Regiment AAC Homecoming Ceremony in Christchurch Park

Ipswich provided a great welcome home for 4 Regiment Army Air Corps at a march-past and ceremony in the Town centre and then in Christchurch Park.

The Wattisham-based regiment, which has the Freedom of the Borough of Ipswich, has recently returned from a one-year tour of duty in Afghanistan, where its Apache helicopters formed a vital part of the allied forces.

The regiment exercised its Freedom of the Borough with a march through the Town, followed by a service of thanksgiving at the Cenotaph in Christchurch Park, at which there was also a ceremony in celebration of the 90th Anniversary of the Royal British Legion.

The Mayor of Ipswich, Councillor John le Grys, took the salute and inspected the parade, and there was great excitement when a 4 Regiment AAC Apache helicopter arrived at, and later departed from, the lawn in front of Christchurch Mansion.
