The Queens Baton Relay came to Christchurch Park after a 120 mile journey around Suffolk. Ipswich athlete and swimmer 80 year old Ken Webb passed it over to Zoe Newton who won an Olympic Bronze in 2012. The ceremony was attended by the new mayor of Ipswich, Bill Quinton and the new Chairman of Suffolk County Council, Christopher Hudson. There was a mass colour run around the park afterwards with participants covered in yellow red and blue paint powder.
